A non ryegrass mixture of highly palatable species providing good yields on low input, cold, wet, soils where ryegrass can sometimes struggle to properly establish. Meadow Fescue and Timothy produce higher yields than a ryegrass based mixture receiving similar management on this soil type. It is important to regularly graze the resulting pasture as this will keep the grasses particularly leafy. However continuous grazing is not recommended as the sward will benefit from periodic rest to allow time for unrestricted re-growth. This pasture is therefore ideally suited to short period rotational grazing but may also be used to produce an occasional hay crop.
