A good reinstatement mixture should quickly bind the soil surface together to minimise erosion and nutrient loss of disturbed soils. Once established the same binding root action of the grasses can help reduce the impact of surface water until the natural drainage is restored within the soil structure. Initial ground cover and grass density may be increased by using the higher sowing rate. It may also be advantageous to use the higher rate if the seedbed is a little course or uneven.
