Additional Information
Red Clover Seed. A blend of two varieties
of red clover for over sowing into any cutting ley. Introducing Red Clover can increase the protein content
of the sward compared to ensiled grass alone. The added
benefit of increased soil fertility by the way of nitrogen fixation through root nodules is well documented.
Red clover seeds require very little
in the way of seedbed preparation. The seed may be broadcast or very shallow
drilled into any short, open sward in early spring or mid- late summer
(whilst the grass growth rate is a little slower). Harrowing and/or rolling
after broadcasting clover will help insure the seed is in good contact with the
soil. It is imperative that the sward is then cut at least once post clover
emergence. This practise minimises any risk of the developing red clover being
smothered by the re-growth of existing grasses
