Granular Fertiliser

A brief guide to grass fertiliser compounds. The main elements essential to grass nutrition are nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). The ratio of these three elements is usually expressed by %. For example 12-3-6 contains 12% nitrogen, 3% phosphorus and 6% potassium. These 3 elements each perform specialised jobs. Nitrogen promotes leaf growth and good colour. Phosphorus is vital to strong root and leaf development. Potassium is essential to general plant health enhancing both drought resistance and winter hardiness.
