An extremely useful seed mixture particularly for the smaller farm or smallholding where limited grazing means the rapid repair of damaged grass areas such as around a gateway, feeding trough or walkway is a must for maximum forage production.
Our gateway repair seeds mixture contains a carefully balanced combination of fast growing annual and biannual species for rapid re-establishment and cover plus persistent perennials for the longer term repair.

Not only is this product effective on gateways etc but it can also be used as emergency reinstatement on damaged grassland or to lift a poorly performing area in the field.

To get the best from Gateway Repair grass seed good preparation is essential.
Harrow the surface to create a tilth. Apply the seeds liberally. Pass over with harrows again to mix the seeds in with the tilth and then roll or firm the area down to put the seeds into good contact with the soil.

Applying a Cutting Ley Overseeding mixture is an economical way to quickly boost yields or extend the term of a tired or burnt up sward following damage caused by overgrazing, flooding, drought or extremely cold weather. The overseeding or ‘introduction’ of these grasses will reinstate a short term grass ley’s productivity.
Should forage be urgently required for conservation this mixture may also be used to temporarily boost a grazing pastures yield for a year or two without incurring the expense or downtime of destroying pasture and establishing a specific short term, high yield ley.

Cutting Ley Overseeding can be carried out during spring. late summer or early autumn into a short, open sward for minimum competition from existing grass.
A fertiliser application may be made to significantly boost yield 3 to 4 weeks after germination. It is advisable not to fertilise too soon after sowing as this may encourage a sudden surge of growth from existing grasses which can potentially smother developing seedlings.

Three grass species chosen for their speed and ease of establishment, persistence and palatability making them ideal for grazing ley overseeding or introducing new productive grasses into a lacklustre permanent pasture. Lasting damage may have occurred to the sward following overstocking, flooding, drought, winter kill or where weed grasses have become dominant and the more palatable species require immediate reinstatement. This general mixture is suitable for most soil types country wide.

Broadcasting grass seeds will boost ley productivity and prolong a swards ability to provide good quality grazing forage for an extra two – four years. This economical practise does not incur the expense or long downtime of destroying and re-establishing a poorly performing pasture.
Overseeding should be carried out when soil moisture is available i.e. during spring, late summer or early autumn into a short, open sward
Rolling the seeds into good contact with the soil is essential for the best germination and establishment. Ideally harrow, seed, roll and apply fertiliser (where applicable) 4 to 6 weeks post germination.
