Cut & Compost Green Manure is fast growing and very productive over 1 to 2 years.
This deep rooting seeds mixture will condition the ground to:
- Increase soil fertility
- Improve soil structure
- Add organic matter to sandy soil (to hold moisture)
- Provide better drainage on clay soil
This green manure seeds mixture can also produce many cuts of nitrogen rich, leafy matter for mulching or composting. All this may be achieved without the use of artificial fertiliser.
Once established, freshly cut material may be mulched directly on to the ground or be removed and added to a compost heap or bin as a valuable high nitrogen filler. This fresh, green biomass can be mixed with other dry and more fibrous materials to help balance moisture and nutrient content for improved compost production.
Regular topping to a height of around 2 to 4 inches is essential to getting the best return from this Cut & Compost green manure crop.
The best soil conditioning results are gained from the mixture being used for over 12 months.
