by REQUEST ONLY: DELIVERY 5 to 7 working days
GSS-AWF contains the following native annual wildflower seeds (no grasses):

40% Corn Cockle (agrostemma githago)
15% Corn Marigold (chrysanthemum segetum)
15% Corn Poppy (papaver rhoeas)
10% Corn Chamomile (anthemis arvensis)
20% Cornflower (centaurea cyanus)

Historically, native annual wildflower seeds established amongst spring sown cereals such as wheat, barley and oats until the introduction of modern intensive farming methods promoted 100% clean crops for maximum returns. The wildflower seeds would have been disturbed and brought to the soils surface during cultivations prior to spring wheat, oats or barley being sown. The robust cereal crop supported the more delicate wildflower plants which bloomed during the summer and set seed before the crop was harvested.

During harvest the wildflower seeds would drop to the ground which was then cultivated incorporating the next generation of seeds back into the topsoil where they remained dormant until once again disturbed by further cultivations.

This native annual wildflower seeds mixture should ideally be early – late spring sown on to a sunny, well prepared and weed free seedbed to emulate the aforementioned conditions. A mid autumn sowing can also produce effective results

Wildflower Seeds for Woodland Glade are suitable species for open grassland within, or the semi shaded grassland adjacent to a sparsely populated orchard, young wood or sparce coppice. Tree management may be required as the area matures to prevent the leaf canopy from closing over the established glade.

Whilst these wildflowers are shade tolerant they do benefit greatly from opening up very shaded areas and will flourish with less competition for sunlight.
Clear and control nettles, brambles and ground ivy before sowing this mixture. Top in late October and remove all autumn leaf litter during dry winter weather.
Never apply fertiliser or weed control to areas sown with Wildflower Seed for Woodland Glade.

Considerations when constructing our Wildflower Seed for Dry Soil mixture. All plants require water from soil. Dry soils can be a problem to most fauna as at times there may simply not be enough moisture present to sustain plant growth particularly during the summer months. The wild flower species in this mixture are known to inhabit these soil types and are very suited to drier or free draining ground. Desiccation of these plants may still take place on occasion, but they are all well adapted to producing new growth once suitable levels of moisture become available once again.

Most wild flower seedlings take 6-12 months to establish before flowering so we have included native cornfield annuals for a good display of first year colour.
Never apply fertiliser or weed control to a wildflower area sown with Wildflower Seed for Dry Soil

Wildflower Seed for Chalk Soil, neutral and lower ph (alkaline) sites (such as Limestone) can produce some of the best wildflower meadows. This is usually due to the below average mineral and nutrient content of limestone and chalk based soils preventing other species such as wild grasses from becoming dominant. The wildflowers in this mixture are highly suited to free draining and warmer ground.

Most of these species flower early in the year and again in late summer before the onset of cooler, late autumn weather. Most wildflower species take 6-12 months to establish before flowering so we have included native cornfield annuals for improved first year colour.

Sow Wildflower Seed for Sandy Soil for any real chance of successful establishment on acidic soils as only the most suitable species must be sown. Unlike other soil types where species may survive outside of their normal habitat, sandy soils are often acidic and therefore far less forgiving. This is by no means the most flamboyant wildflower mixture but it will display reasonable colour and persist for many years.

Add this UK native seeds mixture (We recommend 5 to 20% total) to any quantity of Basic or Diverse Meadow Seeds

Over seeding into existing grassland or meadows can be successful providing the sward is sparce, slow growing or non competitive. Any aggresive or fast growing grass species will simply smother new seedlings before they have a chance to become established, particularly in the spring when grassland and meadows are heading (flowering and producing seeds).

Most native Wildflower Seed for Sandy Soil species take 6-12 months to fully establish before flowering so we have included native cornfield annuals for a little first year colour. Never apply fertiliser to your wildflower meadow.
Never apply fertiliser to a wildflower area.

Clay soils can be a problem to some native fauna as excessive moisture can be detrimental to healthy and sustained root growth in the winter and the same soil may dry like concrete in the summer. The wildflowers in this mixture are known to freely inhabit these conditions and are very suited to damp or clay soil types. This mixture of native wildflower seed for clay also does extremely well around ponds, aside water courses or on any slow draining soil.

Add native wildflower seed for clay (We recommend 5 to 20% total) to any quantity of Basic or Diverse Meadow Seeds

Most wildflower species take 6-12 months to establish before flowering so we have included native cornfield annuals to ensure good first year colour.
Never apply fertiliser to a wildflower area.

This diverse, native wildflower seeds mixture really excels with nearly 30 carefully chosen species of the very best native wildflowers, offering a rich, sustainable habitat and a balanced display of natural colour. Wildflowers are the very life blood of the countryside with many of our most endangered butterflies and insects relying on this type of habitat as a natural food source for survival. Not only do colourful wildflowers play a vital role within our countries delicate ecosystem, the natural attraction to native and migrating butterflies can be very rewarding and also very pleasing to the eye.

Add Native Wildflower Seeds (We recommend 5 to 20% total) to any quantity of Basic or Diverse Meadow Seeds

For the best results, broadcast these seeds on to a fine and clean seedbed. Weeds should be controlled with a herbicide before sowing takes place and soil fertility should be reasonably low. Most wildflower species take 6-12 months to establish before flowering so we have included native cornfield annuals for a little first year colour.
Never apply fertiliser to a wildflower area.

A simple yet visually pleasing Economy Wildflower Seeds mixture of the more common UK native species for overseeding into meadows, large gardens and environmentally sensitive landscapes.
Contains Annual Wildflower Seed and Perennial Wildflower Seed

Any aggresive or fast growing grass species will simply smother new seedlings before they have a chance to become established, particularly in the spring when grassland and meadows are heading (flowering and producing seeds).

Broadleaf and grass weeds should be controlled before sowing takes place and soil fertility should be reasonably low.
