Dwarf Ryegrass (Now more commonly known as ‘Amenity Ryegrass’)
Lolium perenne
Dwarf (Amenity) ryegrass has been specifically bred over many years to become the fine leaved, compact plant we know today.
It is very far removed from broad leaved, agricultural type ryegrass and is an absolute must in all seed mixtures intended as a hard wearing turf
Dwarf Ryegrass is also the best base grass species for most sports fields or areas of high foot traffic as it is easy to establish and fast to regrow into damaged areas providing the ground temperature is above 6c and adequate soil moisture is available.
Germination times range from several weeks in cooler weather to just a few days in very warm, damp conditions
Dwarf Ryegrass blends well with all fescues and bentgrass to produce a reasonably fine leaved turf. It also responds well to NPK fertiliser applications
