The modern combination of hybrid ryegrass, perennial ryegrass and timothy makes a highly productive, medium term ley suitable for both cutting and/or grazing. The hybrid grasses maximise yield for conservation be it silage, haylage or hay whilst the perennial ryegrass and timothy help fill the base of the sward for more efficient grazing.
Hybrid ryegrass has a high soluble carbohydrate content which aids the conservation process and also ensures both silage and grazing from this ley remains extremely palatable from early to late season growth.
With good management the current varieties in this mixture should easily continue beyond 3 years
