Diverse Equine Pasture is one of our most popular equine grazing products. This seeds mixture not only increases the diversity of forage intake but also provides the essential early, mid and late season grazing properties associated with a well constructed permanent horse pasture.
Utilising a wider range of grass species is not only proven to be beneficial to the grazing animal but also helps minimise the affects of adverse weather conditions on an established grass sward. The inclusion of ryegrass increases the response to fertiliser applications should higher grass yields for hard grazing, hay or haylage production be the priority.

We supply a very similar diverse mixture but without the inclusion of ryegrass for the long term grazing of Alpacas and Llamas or for any Horse and/or Pony on restrictive intake.

SOWING INSTRUCTIONS

  • The area/s to be sown should be cultivated to produce a firm, weed free seedbed clear of large stones, roots and any other loose debris.
  • Harrow or rake over the surface to create a thin layer of fine, loose soil (tilth) approximately 10- 25mm (1/2” – 1”) deep.
  • Evenly machine broadcast the horse pasture seeds at 14.00 kg per acre (35.00 kg per hectare 3.5 grams per square metre).
    Please allow double the seeding rate if sowing by hand.
  • After sowing, gently work the applied seeds into the loose tilth a little with a light harrow or firm rake.
  • Finally, use a light weight (for clay ground) to medium weight (free draining ground) flat roller to squeeze the seeds and tilth down into the prepared seedbed.
  • This method ensures the horse pasture seeds are evenly spread, set at different depths and in good contact with the soil. All of the above helps to anchor the seeds in to position (so as not to float away during heavy or persistent rainfall) and to maintain persistent soil to seed moisture transfer for more even germination.Grass seeds may also be surface sown however, germination may be uneven and significantly slower particularly during periods of prolonged sunny, dry or windy weather even with regular irrigation
