Summary: A fine leaved lawn repair and overseeding mixture without ryegrass, designed for patching or full lawn renovation using slender fescue and bentgrass species. Ideal for creating a dense, even, low maintenance turf with improved weed resistance and year-round colour, this blend establishes more slowly than ryegrass mixes but produces a finer, lower maintenance finish once established.
The slender leaved grass species in our Lawn Repair Without Ryegrass mixture may be used for patching up a damaged area or overseeding an entire lawn, particularly after thatch removal or general spring and autumn scarifying to encourage quick infill and a densely populated, even turf.
Most lawns require an occasional top up with grass seeds to keep them in first class condition.
Lawns may thin out due to plant losses after a cold or wet winter, extended periods of dry weather or just from the general wear and tear of everyday use.
A good quality fine leaved lawn repair seed mixture of fescue and bentgrass will re-establish unoccupied areas around established grasses leaving little or no space remaining in the turf for weed invasion and will also help to maintain better year round colour.
Overseeding a lawn is one of those unfortunate jobs which requires making a turf look worse before it looks better as the surface requires vigorously scratching over (scarifying) to expose some soil as a seedbed.
This action must be implemented simply because small lawn seeds need to be in intimate contact with soil and moisture to successfully germinate and properly establish.
Once lawn over seeding or repair has been carried out it is very important to roll or tread the sown area firm again to consolidate the seedbed and further guarantee the applied seeds are in good contact with the soil.
Lawn Overseeding Repair Without Ryegrass may take longer to fully establish but requires less frequent maintenance than ryegrass based mixtures.
